  • Wayzata High School Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) Agreement

  • The Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) program provides high school students with the opportunity to take college-level classes while fulfilling their high school requirements. Students enroll in courses at participating colleges and universities, earning both high school and college credit simultaneously. It’s a great fit for students who want to be challenged, explore potential career interests, or start building their college experience early.

Students who take PSEO classes get a feel for what college is really like. The coursework can be more rigorous and independent, which helps students develop skills such as time management, critical thinking, and staying organized. PSEO courses are also free to students, which means the credits earned can save time and money in the future. Additionally, students gain access to college resources, instructors, and activities that can enhance their learning.

At the same time, students and families should understand that PSEO comes with responsibilities. College classes often move quickly and expect students to take charge of their own learning. Meeting deadlines, managing schedules, and asking for help when needed are all essential. The grades students earn in PSEO become part of their permanent college record and may affect future opportunities. Colleges also set their own rules for attendance, grading, and expectations, which may differ from high school policies.

Because of these expectations, it’s essential for families to carefully consider whether PSEO is the right fit. When students understand the responsibilities and feel ready for the challenge, PSEO can be a meaningful step toward college success and personal growth.
